Create Fedora Raspberry Pi

  • Raspberry Pi 3 B+
  • Fedora 29 ARM LXDE 
  • (Installing from Fedora)
I. Download Fedora .xz Image
II. Install the Fedora ARM installer and Gparted
  • dnf install -y fedora-arm-installer gparted
III. Etch the image to the SD card
  1. Insert the SD card into your PC (not the RPI)
  2. Use Gparted to locate SD card
    • ie: /dev/sdx
  3. Run the Fedora ARM installer
    • sudo arm-image-installer -y --image=/home/username/Downloads/Fedora-LXDE-armhfp-29-1.2-sda.raw.xz --target=rpi3 --media=/dev/sdx
    • (Do not use the resizefs option, because it does not work for F29)
  4. Wait for the image to be written
IV. Use Gparted to resize the root partition
  1. Open Gparted, and select your SD card to see its partitions
    • they might show up as ext4, but that's perfectly fine 
    • the 3rd partition should be the root partition
    • there should be extra unpartitioned space on your SD card
  2. Resize the 3rd partition
    1. Right-click the 3rd partition
    2. Select "Resize/Move"
    3. Extend the partition and click "OK"
    4. Click the green check icon to write the changes to the disk
V. Start and Configure the Raspberry Pi
  1. Insert the SD card into the Raspberry Pi
  2. Start the Pi
  3. Create an admin password and a user
  4. Enter wireless information
  5. Complete the configuration
  6. Log in
  7. Open LXTerminal
  8. Update the system
    • sudo dnf update
